Look, it’s a known fact that most people think golf is a game/sport for older, rich, white, stuffy jerks and their trophy wives. People, namely younger people, think the sport is archaic and not half as cool as football, basketball or even baseball. Where are they going? Who knows, but they’re leaving golf in droves!

Here are some quick facts:

- Nearly 10% of the U.S. population plays golf
- The average age of a golfer is 54
- Only 5% of golfers are under 30
- There are 10,000 public courses in this country with an average green fee of $28

So, obviously the stats skew old but there’s some very good reasons for that. And while $28 doesn’t seem like a lot to most people, if you play twice a week at that rate that adds up to almost $3000! The three biggest factors keeping you kids away from the game are:

1. Cost
2. Time
3. Difficulty

So how do we fix it? Easy! Make it cheaper, make it faster and make it easier. Check out what hackgolf is doing to crowdsource the game and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Think about this – promoting more 9-hole executive courses solves all three of those problems. It will be cheaper, you’ll play faster and it will be much easier … boom! Mind blown!
